Church data stays with the church.

1. Scope and operator

This Privacy Policy applies to the MicQ macOS application, the website at trymicq.com, and support provided for MicQ. “MicQ,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Sam Bruneau Productions, the developer and supplier of MicQ.

MicQ is designed for churches and other organizations. The person configuring MicQ is responsible for having authority to connect the organization’s accounts and use the names, assignments, photos, videos, and other information shown on its displays. MicQ is not directed to children, although an authorized organization may choose to display information about a minor as part of its roster.

2. Data the app accesses

You decide which integrations and folders to connect. MicQ accesses only the sources needed for the features you enable.

OAuth refresh tokens, Planning Center personal-access-token credentials, Google client secrets, and the license key are kept outside renderer-facing settings and encrypted with Electron’s macOS secure storage when it is available. Setup-profile exports use an allowlist and exclude those credentials and the license record. A diagnostic report or log export can still contain operational names and labels, so review it before sharing it.

3. Purchases and activation

Checkout

Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for MicQ purchases. Its hosted checkout collects and processes information such as your name, email, billing details, payment information, country, tax information, order details, and fraud-prevention signals under Lemon Squeezy’s Privacy Policy. Sam Bruneau Productions does not receive your full payment-card details. Lemon Squeezy makes customer, order, refund, and license information available to us as the product supplier.

License activation

When you activate MicQ, the app sends Lemon Squeezy your license key and the Mac’s local computer name. Lemon Squeezy returns a license-instance identifier and information needed to confirm the purchase, including product and store identifiers, license status, variant name, and customer email. MicQ stores those details, along with activation and validation timestamps, on the Mac.

Later validation sends the license key and license-instance identifier to Lemon Squeezy. Moving the license off a Mac sends those same identifiers in a deactivation request. These requests also expose ordinary network metadata, such as your IP address and user agent, to Lemon Squeezy.

4. Website and support

Website

The MicQ website does not include first-party analytics, advertising pixels, or account sign-in. The hosting and content-delivery providers that serve the site may process standard request data such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, referrer, and timestamp for delivery, reliability, and security. The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser requests those font files from Google when a page loads.

Following a checkout link takes you to Lemon Squeezy. Following another external link makes a request to that provider under its own privacy terms.

Support

If you email us, we receive the address you use, your message, and anything you choose to attach. If you send a diagnostic report, logs, screenshots, or setup details, they may include church, plan, member, file, device, or license information. Do not send passwords, OAuth tokens, full license keys, or information that is not needed to solve the issue.

5. How information is used

MicQ and Sam Bruneau Productions use the information described above to:

• connect to the sources you choose and build the stage display;
• match people with photos or videos and remember your layouts and preferences;
• activate, validate, move, refund, and support a purchased license;
• download signed app updates and diagnose failures;
• answer support or privacy requests and communicate about a purchase; and
• protect MicQ, customers, providers, and legal rights, and comply with applicable law.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, these activities rely on performing our contract with you, your consent or instruction to connect an integration, our legitimate interests in operating and securing MicQ and supporting customers, and compliance with legal obligations.

6. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or send church roster or media data to data brokers. We do not use Planning Center or Google user data to train general-purpose artificial-intelligence models.

Information is handled by third parties only where you direct the connection or where it is needed to provide the product:

• Planning Center authenticates the connection and supplies Services data. See Planning Center’s Privacy Notice.
• Google authenticates an optional Google account, supplies Drive data, and serves fonts on the website. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Lemon Squeezy handles checkout as merchant of record and provides license activation. See Lemon Squeezy’s Privacy Policy.
• GitHub hosts MicQ’s public update feed. A packaged app periodically asks that feed whether an update is available. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
• Website hosting and email providers deliver the site and support email and may process the standard delivery and security data described above.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer. If a business transfer includes personal information we control, the recipient must honor this policy unless you are notified otherwise where required.

7. Google API data and Limited Use

MicQ’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google user data is used only to provide the visible Google Drive media feature you request. It is not transferred to advertising platforms or data brokers; used for advertising, credit decisions, or surveillance; or used to train a generalized AI or machine-learning model. Sam Bruneau Productions personnel do not read Google user data unless you deliberately provide specific information for support, or access is required for security or legal compliance and permitted by Google’s policies.

8. On-device storage and security

MicQ stores its configuration, local plans, managed media, roster index, templates, license record, and logs under the signed-in macOS user’s application-data folder. Planning Center profile photos and Google Drive media are cached in the Mac’s temporary-data area. Short-lived access tokens are held in memory; long-lived credentials are stored locally as described above.

The locally remembered roster is limited to 500 people and normally prunes people not seen for 180 days. A person with an explicitly assigned photo is kept until the operator removes that person or photo. The diagnostic log is limited to its latest 1,000 entries. Temporary media may be cleared by macOS; persistent app data remains until you remove it.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to a local desktop application, including HTTPS provider requests, OAuth with PKCE where supported, encrypted credential storage when available, signed application updates, and no automatic log upload. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and anyone with sufficient access to the Mac or an exported file may be able to read its contents.

9. Retention, deletion, and your choices

• Planning Center: Disconnecting clears MicQ’s stored Planning Center credentials and makes a best-effort request to revoke OAuth access. Remembered roster entries, settings, assigned media, and logs remain on the Mac until separately removed.
• Google Drive: Disconnecting clears the stored Google refresh token. You can also revoke MicQ or your own OAuth client in your Google Account. Temporary downloads may remain until macOS clears them; files you explicitly assigned to people remain until removed in MicQ.
• People, photos, plans, and logs: Use MicQ’s People manager to forget a person or remove an assigned photo, delete local plans from the local-plan library, and use Settings → Advanced to clear diagnostics.
• License: “Move to another computer” asks Lemon Squeezy to deactivate that Mac and removes its local license record. A refund disables the refunded license.
• All local MicQ data: Quit MicQ, then remove MicQ’s folder from your macOS Application Support directory and any exported profiles or logs you created. Uninstalling the app alone may leave its Application Support data in place.

Support correspondence and commerce records we control are retained only as long as reasonably needed to provide support, administer purchases, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet tax, accounting, or legal duties. Provider-controlled records are retained under each provider’s policy.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information we control, and to appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

Most integration and roster data is only on your Mac, so we cannot retrieve it for you. Use the controls above to manage that data. To exercise rights over provider-held data, contact the relevant provider directly.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when MicQ’s features, providers, or legal obligations change. The current version will remain posted at this URL with its effective date. If a change materially expands how Google user data or other personal information is used, we will provide any additional notice or consent required before the new use begins.
